Behind My Alamy Sales – February 2026
3 MINUTES READING TIME · 5 March 2026
February was a slow sales month in volume but strong in value: four images sold and total revenue exceeded USD $50, which I consider a decent result. One image was a repeat sale and three were sold for the first time, showing both the long tail and the discovery potential of consistent uploads. Small months like this continue to validate the strategy of focused in your strength, high-quality work over chasing volume.
Theme shot
I’ve been shooting the Super Mario installation in Singapore for two years because themed sets like this are rare locally and highly engaging. Returning for the second year paid off: the set’s detail and interactivity produced images that resonated with buyers, and one of those images sold again after its initial sale in December 2025. This repeat sale commanded a higher value compared to the first one. If your interest lies in themed work, double down—specialized series build authority and attract repeat buyers. Avoid shooting just to post; aim for projects that energize you, because forced output quickly becomes draining and unsustainable.

Popular venue
Rainforest Wild Asia, which opened in March 2025, became a strategic shoot for me. I used a complimentary ticket my partner received and treated the visit like a location assignment, bringing full gear and planning a cohesive series. I had already researched the venue and found only few images on Alamy at the time, so being early helped establish a presence; specializing in architectural photography also made it easier to see compelling perspectives. Sales began a few months later, confirming that new, unique venues can create long-term value—especially if you are among the first to post. If you pay for a ticket, allocate a day to shoot while enjoying the venue to maximize the return on that investment.

Drinks
Product and lifestyle photography for drinks continues to perform well for me. A notable shoot from March 2024 captured a supermarket display 100plus bottled drinks for marketing purpose for the consumers, my eyes caught on it. The key is context: show the product in a narrative setting, and prioritize clarity, composition, and visual hierarchy over gimmicks. Years of experience have taught me what sells. Patience is key to successful selling.

Labubu series
The Labubu series remains a dependable performer into 2026. I uploaded many images and was fortunate to sell several; this particular shot sold for the first time recently. I spent significant time and effort into the series and enjoyed the process—these toys belong to my partner’s collection, so shooting them was also a valuable bonding experience. Trends can slow or shift out quickly, but a well-built collection may continue to generate opportunities. For those interested, check the pseudonym link below for the full Labubu set.

Final Notes
February’s results reinforce two practical lessons: specialize where you can, and treat new locations as projects rather than casual outings. Both approaches increase the chance of repeat sales and higher-value licenses. I’ll continue refining these series and prioritizing shoots that are enjoyable and strategically aligned with market demand.
